"Courage is like — it’s a habitus, a habit, a virtue: you get it by courageous acts. It’s like you learn to swim by swimming. You learn courage by couraging." - Mary Daly

First African-American woman to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry

A message from our team...

Coding is scary. The thoughts that the moment you press the "run" button, your code will fail, and all your hard work would have been for nothing. More often then not, it's the idea that you're trying to achieve with code that is the most daunting. Many young girls who are writing code for the first time in their lives believe that their code should be a 100% perfect before they run it. We are here to say that that isn't true. At all. In a realm where technology plays an ever-expanding role, your unique courage and creativity are needed more than ever. We hope that through PyGirls, we can inspire a generation of girls who are not afraid to create lasting impacts with their innovations. As Reshma Saujani (CEO of Girls Who Code) says, the more often you choose bravery over perfection, the better.

With love,

The PyGirls Team 💗
